Course Description:
With absorbing source texts on topics such as Sherlock Holmes, the crown jewels of England, Buckingham Palace, and events of World War II, writing is simply easier when it is more fun.  Using IEW’s popular theme-based book, Following Narnia, Vol. 1, students write about these topics and more.  They learn to write summaries, stories, reports, and respond to literature.  Each week students work on one new assignment as they work to polish a previous assignment.  They receive expert evaluations that help to them improve.  Students will be reading three of the novels from the Chronicles of Narnia series and have an opportunity to talk about their favorite parts.  Included in this course is a unique grammar book using the Fix-It series, where students learn editing skills, vocabulary, parts of speech, and other useful grammar skills.  Students learn to take ownership of their writing as they make it their very own.
