Course Description:

Quality classic literature impacts our perspective and changes us.  They answer the questions we are most curious about:  Why am I here?  Where am I going?  What am I supposed to be doing?  What will happen if I go down this path? In this course, students read literature from a variety of master writers that still resonates today.  They learn how the historical events of the time period reveal the particular concerns of their day.  Students will discern and examine the worldviews present in the literature. After a better understanding of the ideas and themes, students engage in different writing topics:  literary and historical approach papers, essays, and  author studies. Occasional projects infuse additional interest in these incomparable works of literature.
