Travel Writing of the Southeast U.S.

Travel Writing of the Southeast United States (5th-6th grades)
Live online Wednesdays 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. EST

Dates:  Sept. 10, 2025– May 13, 2026

Instructor:  Renee Metcalf

Course Description:
Who doesn't like to go on a road trip!  Virtually explore the history and geography of the Southeastern United States and write articles about animals, people, places, and historical and current events.  Learn to write in a gentle and incremental fashion, adding various stylistic devices, sentence variety, and vocabulary for your readership. At the conclusion of the course, students compile their final drafts to create a magazine with a cover, pictures, and other interesting fillers.  Think of yourself as a "real" writer, because you are!

Question:  What if you don't live in the southeastern U.S?
Answer:   I don't live in Ireland or Japan, either, but that does not prevent me from writing about them.  We are often interested in places that are far away or foreign.  If you DO live in the southeastern U.S. this class will only further enhance your studies.

Tuition:  $59/month or $212/semester
