British Literature & Composition (9th-12th grades)

Course Description: This course introduces students to masterpieces of British literature from Anglo-Saxon times through the 20th century. Students read, analyze, and interpret literature in its historical context within a Christian worldview. Learn the influence of the written word upon the events of the day and how the major concerns of the day were mirrored in the literature. After reflection and discussion students write various essay compositions responding to the literature throughout the course.

Goals and Objectives:
Read and annotate a variety of classic British works.
Explore literature in some depth and answer a variety of questions that address the big questions of life from a Christian perspective.
Participate in online discussions.
Conduct mini-research to enlarge understanding of the book under study.
Respond to literature through a variety of short writing assignments and longer essays.
Create projects demonstrating an understanding of various concepts.
